Meet ‘Le Veganista' Jocelyn Ramirez
Here at Le Foodie, we’re huge fans of vegan and vegetarian food.
But . . . sometimes vegan and vegetarian dishes can seem “restricting” and require finesse and creativity to take them to a higher level.
It was that insight that inspired us to make our “Le Veganista” tee. Playing off the term “fashionista,” we wanted to express that vegan food could totally be in style ;)
A business that embodies this message is Todo Verde. Todo Verde is a female-owned small business inspired by Latin American flavors. They make savory plant-based dishes, agua fresca, and superfood smoothies for communities in the Eastside of Los Angeles and beyond!
Founder, Jocelyn Ramirez, is a vegan chef, college professor, yoga instructor, and advocate for healthy food access in her community.

After Jocelyn’s father was diagnosed with cancer for the second time, she created a plant based superfood smoothie diet that made him dramatically stronger and helped with a quick recovery.
During this process, she noticed the lack of healthy food options in the Los Angeles area. This inspired Jocelyn to create that option for the Eastside community.
So she founded Todo Verde in 2015 with a mission to create delicious and healthy plant based food inspired by her Mexican and South American roots.
She left her career in higher education to pursue a new path in foodways related to culture and tradition. In doing so, she has referenced traditional recipes passed down for generations within her family, and has explored new techniques using native ingredients.
Jocelyn has partnered with local nonprofit organizations such as the Los Angeles Food Policy Council, Center for Cultural Innovation, and LURN to offer workshops ranging from healthy food demonstrations, social media strategies, and dialogues in relation to critical analysis of the industrial food system and traditional foodways.
Now that’s a Veganista!
Aside, from catering, Todo Verde appears regularly at DTLA’s Smorgasburg where they feature some of their tasty dishes!
In this photo Jocelyn is not only rocking our tee, but she’s also holding their ‘Mushrooms en Mole Almendrado’ dish, over Mexican brown rice. Also featured is their refreshing ‘Amorcito’ agua fresca; which is strawberry, rose, chia, and maple syrup.
If you’re ever in the Downtown LA area on a Sunday for Smorgasburg, or need a healthy meal catered, Todo Verde is the one to call!
Do you love vegan food as much as we do? Rep your “Veganista” flair with your own tee from our website.
It makes a great gift too ;)
